Count Your Many Blessings

There's an old hymn, "Count Your Blessings", and the lyrics come flooding to mind several times a day, especially lately.

"Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your many blessings see what God has done."

For me personally, I've got a baby that rarely naps longer than 30 minutes once a day, and wakes between 5:30-6:00am after going to bed around 8:30pm.  Honestly, at the moment, I'm soooooo tired.  These are the moments I can quickly make bad decisions in my head, currently like "I'm gonna have to start waking at 4:00am to get the bearings running for my day....I'm just gonna have to hang up the art for now, there's just no way...I'm never gonna get the laundry done...I need to organize the bathroom cabinets...I need to clean out my studio...bla bla bla...".  And these are all irrational thoughts, cause if I tried to wake up at 4:00am I'd obviously be more sleep deprived and that wouldn't help.  I can't quit art because it's in me and a gift from God that I can't contain.

To make this ramble short (cause I obviously don't have time to type much, right?), I love that God and His word can rationalize our thoughts on our hardest and best days.  I love that He puts songs in our hearts that remind us of His grace and mercy that covers our stinkin' thinkin'.  Molly Grace is a healthy 15 month old, full of joy, bright-eyed and happy as can be.  I love her more than anything and honestly LOVE that she goes with me everywhere and we are the best of friends!  While I can still hope and wish that sleep would become a sweet part of her life and mine, I'm counting my many blessings, and seeing such a trend of faithfulness and grace poured out on me and my little family.

So when you're feeling a little whacked out and in need of a pick-me-up....

...Count your many blessings see what God has done.
